With my background in biochemistry and in nonprofits, I was intrigued by this article in the Seattle Times business section today:
Progress not profit
I like the idea of being able to do research in a place that is free from both the pressure of academia and the profit-pushing of industry. In the article, the Seattle nonprofits are praised: a sturdy model, growing fast and revealing the scientific depth in the area. Well, if I ever consider going back into the lab again….

Also in today’s paper, an article on the cure for cancer , or rather, the lack thereof: ” We cannot wipe out the cancer without wiping out a lot of the rest of us.”
