In Benaroya Hall on Tuesday night, the Eroica Trio performed. Joy, precision from Eroica, Prague orchestra wrote the Seattle Times reviewer:
“These women grew up together, and they are a good argument for all chamber music ensembles to be raised together. It is rare to see and hear musical intuition so tight.”
And in Benaroya Hall on Wednesday night, Pearl Jam did an acoustic benefit concert. Pearl Jam: Can’t find a better band wrote the Seattle Times reviewer: “With or without juice, Pearl Jam puts on an electrifying show.”
Both these reviews appeared in Thursday’s Seattle Times. Benaroya Hall one night hosted the Eroica Trio and the next night Pearl Jam. Only in Seattle….
Two questions: which concert got more prominent press coverage? Pearl Jam, of course, with big color pictures on the front page of the Northwest Life section. (I didn’t know Eddie Vedder had gray hair – well the review said bleached -blond but it looks grayish to me!). The classical concert had a page 3 review with a smaller black and white publicity shot of the trio.
The second question: which concert would I want to see more? I’d love to see either but I know Ted also would like to see the Eroica Trio. Maybe next time they come to town we can sneak out on the ferry for a fun date at Benaroya. The nearly-new concert hall is just a few blocks walk from the ferry terminal. What a great place to live!
