The other day I realized how much I missed my own garden when I had the opportunity to stroll through a friend’s backyard.
I also realized how fun it is to take pictures of flowers.
Before I knew it, I had taken out my camera to capture glimpses of beauty and once at home, I quickly downloaded the images.
I thought I would publish these favorite photos from my friend’s garden
to celebrate Thoroughly Modern Millie’s birthday today…
Happy 80th Birthday Millie! You’re amazing! Thank you for sharing your wisdom, humor and stories with us through your blog!
P.S. special thanks to my friend L— and to Ronni

What lovely pictures! I adore the second one, the pink double-tulip (or peony) (or cabbage rose). The third one is extra-lovely, too.
The first one reminds me of the day soon after we bought this house. The kitchen had rust-colored flooring, and the MOST hideous yellow, rust, olive, mustard floral print wallpaper ever designed. I really really really hated it. But the kitchen had “good bones” with lots of windows, so I thought I’d survive. Then …
I looked out the windows and realized that the previous owner/gardener had landscaped everything viewable from the kitchen windows to match the wallpaper! I still shudder when I see yellow-burgendy day-lilies!

Hi Julie, Today I was thinking about you and I realized how much time had gone by since I’d looked to see what was happening on your blog. So it was fun to hear from you today, and then to find out you’d been taking pictures of flowers! They are wonderful. Going out to take pictures has been a great new way for me to enjoy and appreciate my garden. Thanks again for inspiring me to start my blog.

Beautiful photos.
Sadly, my Persian Violets are not looking too good, I overwatered. I am such an overwaterer….
