The first three tomatoes are in sight…two green tomatoes on my Stupice vine – a deer favorite – are finally tinged with red. And one little yellow orb, the fruit of the Peace Vine, is ready to be picked -it glows from a distance, like an ornament on a Christmas tree – yum!
One of the mystery flowers, the sole sprouted seed from the wildflower mix (surely there must have been more than one kind of seed!), has bloomed. I don’t know its name, but it has pink petals with frilly edges, like a tiny tutu skirt. I think a few others will be blooming soon, in darker tones of pink….
The plants we rescued from the sale rack at Town and Country are recovering nicely in Abigail’s plot of garden. The pepper plants are blooming – although since it is now almost August, I think the probability of peppers this summer may be slim. And the snapdragons, which hardly looked alive, have spread and are now blooming, a deep pink that nearly matches her faded ladybug windmill.
The cosmos are coming…..
